Fayetteville Parks Department seeks public input for 5-year plan
The city of Fayetteville will seek public input on parks planning through three drop-in events in April.
Park Planning Superintendent Alison Jumper said the city is in the initial stages of developing a five-year plan for 2018 to 2022 and is looking for ideas from the public on potential capital projects.
Parks staff will be on-hand to answer questions and record ideas 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (April 1) during the Fayetteville Farmers Market at Arvest Bank outdoor plaza downtown, from 9 to 11 a.m. on Monday (April 3) in the foyer of the Fayetteville Public Library, and from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (April 8) at Kessler Mountain Regional Park in the concession stand building near soccer fields.
Public suggestions could be incorporated into the citywide 2018-2022 Capital Improvements Plan, which will be submitted to City Council for review and approval later this year. The city has produced five-year plans every other year since 1988, examining infrastructure and capital needs of the city.
The city completed a Parks and Recreation 10-Year Master Plan in 2012.
The city is specifically encouraging ethnic minorities, persons with special needs, elderly persons over 55, and special interest groups to participate, according to a press release.
Those who want to contribute but are unable to attend the events may submit comments to the Fayetteville Parks and Recreation Department by phone at 479-444-3471, by email at [email protected], or in person at 113 W. Mountain.
