Seven years of leadership with the University of Arkansas athletic department made Kevin Trainor the leading candidate this August to fill the Hogs’ sports information director’s post. Trainor, 28, has been with the department for the last six years, and previously served as a student assistant for the 1994-95 school year.

He spent one year as a media relations assistant at the Southeastern Conference offices in Birmingham, Ala., then returned to “The Hill” to become an assistant SID for three years over baseball and tennis. He made associate SID in 1998 and took over basketball last year.

Trainor has produced the football and basketball game-day programs for the last two years. His duties include coordinating media interviews with players, coaches, administrators and student athletes, coordinating information for the department’s Website, www.hogwired.com. com, and event management.

A native of Kansas City, Mo., Trainor graduated in 1994 from the UA with a journalism degree. He’s on the journalism department’s board for its alumni association. Trainor is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America, the national collegiate writer’s associations for both football and baseball and is an active member of the Oak Manor Christian Church.
