Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge announced Monday (Oct. 17) she would seek a second term as attorney general in 2018 and that she has raised $71,850 for the effort.

Rutledge, the state’s 56th attorney general, is the first female and first Republican elected to the office.

In her announcement, she said, “The impact this office can have is enormous and I see it every day in communities across our state. In my short time, I have launched new initiatives to make the office more accessible, fight waste, fraud and abuse in Medicaid and Social Security Disability, assist and empower law enforcement and protect consumers. Not only has the important work of representing state agencies, boards and commissions and keeping criminals locked up continued, but I have also gotten Arkansas off the sidelines and pushed back against unlawful regulations from the federal government.”

Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin (R) has already announced he is running for re-election.
