WattGlass LLC Named Semifinalist in Global Contest
WattGlass LLC keeps getting validation that its self-cleaning, antireflective glass coatings are on the cutting edge of technology.
Earlier this year, the University of Arkansas-affiliated startup received a Phase II National Science Foundation grant and won a top award from leading solar technologies research institute, Fraunhofer Techbridge.
Now, WattGlass has been announced as one of 500 semifinalists in the global 2016 Hello Tomorrow challenge.
WattGlass is one of 10 North American companies selected to compete on the energy track.
Of the 500 semi-finalists, 100 companies will go to Paris Oct. 13–14 for the annual Hello Tomorrow Summit, “where the brightest minds from the science-entrepreneurship ecosystem meet to build the future,” according to Bloomberg, and where top honorees for this year’s competition will be chosen.
There are cash awards, including €100,000 ($111,000) for the winner, but the real prize will likely be the connections and global exposure the contest affords.
