Delta offers $200 travel vouchers for customers affected by systemwide outage

Delta Air Lines will provide $200 in travel vouchers to all customers who experienced a delay of greater than three hours or a cancelled flight as a result of Monday’s systemwide outage.

Delta cancelled nearly 500 flights on Monday and hundreds more were delayed as the nation’s second-largest airline worked to reset its operation following a loss of power in Atlanta that impacted Delta computer systems and operations globally.

“We know that travelers value our commitment to excellent operational performance, and today we did not deliver on that commitment,” said Gil West, Delta’s senior executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We want our customers to know we are thoroughly investigating the matter and that we are truly sorry.”

On Tuesday, Delta said systems are fully operational and flights most flights have resumed, but delays and cancellations remain as recovery efforts continue. At the state’s largest airport, the Bill and Hillary Clinton International Airport in Little Rock, Delta Airlines plans to operate all flights in and out of Little Rock today, said airport spokesman Shane Carter.

Customers are still encouraged to check Delta.com or their Fly Delta app before arriving at the airport, Carter said. Delta comprises 26% of the Little Rock airport’s market share, and operates daily flights to Atlanta and Detroit.

Delta said the vouchers are available for travel on all company and Delta Connection-operated flights. Customers impacted by the outage and who have provided their email address will be contacted Tuesday and will receive their voucher in 7-10 business days. Customers who have not been contacted can complete a Customer Care form on www.delta.com/wecare to receive their voucher. All travel must be booked by Aug. 8, 2017.
