Haas Hall Buys Vacant Building Next to Fayetteville Campus
Even as Haas Hall Academy fights to grow its enrollment, the Fayetteville-based charter school has already grown its real estate holdings.
Academy Inc., an entity controlled by Haas Hall, has purchased a vacant, 5,846-SF building at 3880 N. Front St. in Fayetteville.
Price? $950,000. Seller? Mandy Hunt, who housed her retail clothing store 3 Monkeys Children’s Boutique in the building. She recently relocated the business to Rogers.
Significance? The building sits next to the existing Haas Hall campus. A letter sent June 18 from founder and superintendent Martin Schoppmeyer to Haas Hall families and supporters indicates the building will be renovated for additional classroom space.
The building purchase was aided by a $1 million gift from the Walton Family Foundation. Additionally, $750,000 will be needed to complete renovation and furnishing of the new building, according to the letter.
You may recall in May the charter authorizing panel of the Arkansas Department of Education rejected Haas Hall proposals to expand its Fayetteville campus from 400 to 500 students, and to establish a new 500-student campus in Springdale.
The panel’s decision went to the Arkansas Board of Education, which will holdsits own hearing on the proposals July 14 before making a final decision.
Haas Hall enrolls about 650 students, split between two campuses in Fayetteville and Bentonville.
