Home Sales Surge, Prices Up in March
Across the state, home sales and average selling price of homes increased in March.
Home sales increased nearly 10 percent in March compared to the same month last year, according to information from the Arkansas Realtors Association.
A total of 2,770 homes were sold in March, compared to 2,526 sold in the same month in 2015.
Benton County had 493 home sales, the most of any county in the state, followed by Pulaski County with 453, the information shows.
Home sales in Benton County increased more than 13 percent in March.
Sales in Washington County increased nearly 19 percent. The county had 287 home sales in March and 242 the same month in 2015.
In Sebastian County, sales increased more than 4 percent. A total of 140 homes were sold in March, compared to 134 sold the same month last year.
Average sales price for homes in Arkansas increased over 2 percent in March, according to the information.
The price was $162,402 in March compared to $158,959 for the same month in 2015.
In Benton County, average sales price increased more than 5 percent in March. The price was $208,811, the highest of any county, and increased from $198,725 in 2015.
In Washington County, average sales price increased nearly 10 percent. The price was $205,001, the second highest of any county in the state, and an increase from $186,375 in March 2015.
Average sales price in Sebastian County decreased almost 10 percent in March. The price fell to $136,824 from $151,310 in the same month last year.
