AQ Chicken House will reportedly close its Fayetteville location at 1925 N. College Ave. this weekend. Employees were told about the eatery’s shuttering on Monday (March 28).

A manager at the Fayetteville AQ location had no comment Tuesday regarding the closure and referred Talk Business & Politics to owner Dick Bradley who was not available for comment Tuesday afternoon.

The iconic restaurant opened the Fayetteville location in 1991, and has experienced a decline in traffic in recent years as more quick serve chicken restaurants have opened and expanded in the region such as Slim Chickens, Foghorn’s and more recently Cane’s Chicken.

The original AQ Chicken House, which opened in Springdale in 1947, will remain open, according to management onsite at that location. The Fayetteville location employs a staff of about 12.
