Pratt & Whitney operation in Springdale awarded military contract work

United Technologies, doing business as Pratt & Whitney, was on Wednesday (Sept. 30) awarded an $11.347 million contract to remanufacture a rear engine turbine case. Such cases are part of engines used on the F-15 and F-16 fighter jets and certain unmanned air combat vehicles.
The contract covers work set to be complete by Sept. 29, 2020, and is part of a contract connected to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
“I applaud the Air Force's decision to award Pratt & Whitney this important contract, which will bring jobs and economic opportunity to Northwest Arkansas,” said U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., in a statement. “Earlier this year I visited Pratt & Whitney and saw firsthand the extensive infrastructure they’ve put in place to facilitate this project. Between their efforts and the spirit of the Arkansas workforce, I know they will do an excellent job.”
