Three Questions With Little Rock Tech Fest’s Daniel Pollock
Little Rock Tech Fest will be held October 16th this year. Tech Fest has been a very successful event the past couple of years and this year looks to be the best one to date.
The event takes place on a Friday and features the area’s top technology talent. Several local and national brands have stepped up to sponsor the event including Laravel, DataPath, Mainstream Technologies, elyxor and Acxiom.
The event is truly a team effort. Members of the event organizational team include Daniel Pollock, Abby Sims, James Climer, Paul Gower, Kyle Neumeier, Michael Collins, Kimberly Harris and Chris Steven.
On Wednesday, organizers will present at 1 Million Cups in downtown Little Rock’s Venture Center at 9 a.m.
Daniel Pollock answered a few questions for Talk Business & Politics about the tech event, its strong history, and its future hopes.
TB&P: What one thing (or two) have you learned from hosting/planning LR Tech Fest?
Daniel Pollock: There’s so many details in conference planning. The details that you didn’t think about that end up mattering, and then you have details you spent a lot of time on that didn’t matter as much. Each year, we’ve learned and refined what we needed to focus on.
TB&P: What are some of the biggest successes you have had with LR Tech Fest?
Pollock: For me, it’s seeing the 30% growth year-over-year in attendance size. The other big success I see is hearing the stories from people who were able to connect with other developers and professionals in Arkansas that they weren’t aware of.
TB&P: What kind of things are you looking forward to improving or including in the future?
Pollock: We’re looking at expanding the conference to span multiple days and including extended training sessions. LR Tech Fest will be successful this year if we have 450 people attend. LR Tech Fest will be successful in the future if we have 1,000 people attend and we’re running the conference over the course of 2-3 days.
