Characters from comic books are some of the most beloved. I can vividly remember the characters of the Batman show from the 1960’s and 70’s. Spiderman of the early 80’s as well as the Spiderman from “The Electric Company.”

I am also excited about the new Star Wars movie coming out in December and I’ve watched the Avengers movies and the Christopher Nolan Batman franchise.

There is something about these characters we identify with.

The River City Comic Expo is Saturday, August 29th at the Statehouse Convention center in downtown Little Rock from 10-6. The expo will include 40,000 square feet of dealers, artists, and guests. The expo will also include a “Magic: the Gathering” tournament as well as panel discussions and cosplay.

The tournament for Magic: the Gathering will be sponsored by Game Goblins of Little Rock and featuring a $1000 Grand Prize.

According to a press release, guests include:

“Fan favorite writers and artists such as Gail Simone (Secret Six, Wonder Woman), Michael Golden (Bucky O’Hare), Robbi Rodriguez (SpiderGwen), Bob McLeod (New Mutants), and Little Rock’s own Mitch Breitweiser (Adventures of Superman), Eisner Nominated Elizabeth Breitweiser (The Fade Out), and John Lucas (Deadpool).”
