Among the speakers is well-known entrepreneur Erica Swallow, a native of Paragould who just finished her MBA at MIT. Swallow is a regular contributor to such publications as Mashable, Forbes, Fortune and the Wall Street Journal among others.

Swallow said about the event:

“Since the first TED talk video I saw online, I’ve considered TED one of the preeminent platforms for sharing great ideas. For me, TEDxMarkhamSt is an opportunity to hear what’s on the minds of Arkansas’s brightest minds. I’m also incredibly honored to be a speaker myself and look forward to sharing my story and philosophy on life.

The organizers have pulled together a diverse group of thought leaders; this event is going to be a true treat for me, as it’s my first big event living back in Arkansas as an Arkansas native. I grew up in Paragould, spent the past decade on the East coast, and moved back this month to work on solving Arkansas’s and our nation’s toughest education problems at education non-profit Noble Impact as VP of Product.

This TEDx event is a celebration of sorts for me kicking off this new chapter in education in my home state. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than around big ideas.”

The event will last the entire day and includes a networking luncheon as well as an after-dinner party.

In addition, the TEDx MarkahmSt event will include a photography exhibit as well as webcast in various satellite locations.

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $20 for students and $30 at the door. Tickets went on sale June 15 at the organization’s website.
