The Breast Center of Northwest Arkansas recently announced the purchase of a new mammography machine that provides higher-resolution images with lower doses of radiation.

Fujifilm representatives said that the Breast Center is the first in Arkansas to offer its second-generation digital mammography technology, according to a news release from the center.

The new machine provides images at about twice the resolution of other area mammogram machines with 20 percent less radiation, according to the release.

“It’s not just a better picture, it’s a better diagnosis,” said Steven Harms, physician at the Breast Center.

The Breast Center, a Medical Associates of Northwest Arkansas (MANA) clinic, is located at 55 W. Sunbridge Drive in Fayetteville.
