Tyson Foods Inc. has eased up on its dress code guidelines, and from what we have heard, the changes have been received favorably by employees.

A version of the internal memo obtained by Whispers let staffers of the Springdale and Chicago offices know that the company’s new dress code is simple: Dress appropriately for your day.

And, for a change, appropriate attire has been expanded to include polos, henleys, golf shirts, casual pants, jeans, jeggings and leggings.

“Simply put, you should use your good judgment on what clothing you wear to work based on what activities you will be involved in that day,” the memo said. “For example, if you have a day that doesn’t involve meeting with customers or other important guests, feel free to wear jeans, khakis, slacks, or whatever is comfortable and appropriate for a business environment.

“On the other hand, if you do have meetings with customers or other important guests, then you should match their business dress standards and make them feel at home.”

From what we understand, the relaxed dress code is more in line with guidelines that have been in place at The Hillshire Brands, which was acquired by Tyson last summer for $8.5 billion.
