Walton Family Foundation Issues 2014 Annual Report

The Walton Family Foundation invested $375 million last year in domestic and international projects, according to its 2014 annual report, released Friday.

The report outlines giving to more than 1,900 entities for initiatives in core areas, including K-12 Education, the Environment and the Home Region.

The foundation spent $202.4 million in 2014 to promote its education agenda. Recipients of the largest amounts include: Teach for America ($14.5 million), Building Excellent Schools Inc. ($9.5 million), Kipp Foundation Inc. ($8.4 million), Charter Fund Inc. ($8.1 million) and Families for Excellent Schools Inc. ($5 million.

Education grants in 2014 represent a 28 percent increase in that area over the last two years. The WFF spent more than $164 million on education in 2013 and $158 million 2012.

$101.3 million was spent on Environmental grants and $40.1 million on Home Region grants in 2014. $29.2 million was spent on Special Interest grants.

“The Foundation is more committed than ever to grant making that drives not just incremental but transformative change,” executive director Buddy Philpot wrote in an email accompanying the annual report. “I’m so grateful that I get to work with partners, staff and a Board of Directors who have such a passion for making a difference.”
