On Friday, June 26th Alzheimer’s Arkansas will host the 2nd symposium called Hope for the Future, a seminar held to educate those who are providing care to someone with memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. The event will be held from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm with registration beginning at 7:30 am, at the Schmieding Center in Springdale, 2422 N. Thompson Street. Seating is limited. The registration deadline is Friday, June 12th.

This daylong symposium provides family and professional caregivers with general information regarding Alzheimer’s disease and its progression, tools, knowledge, and techniques to improve caregiving skills, and information concerning resources available to caregivers and Alzheimer’s patients. Anyone who is currently treating or will be new to treating someone with these ailments is encouraged to attend. The event will feature expert speakers in the fields of Alzheimer's and dementia. Senior Healthcare Organizations will have exhibit booths to display their particular service or product and will be able to visit in person during the event.

Elise Siegler of Alzheimer’s Arkansas said, “Last year, with the help from some pretty terrific volunteers, Alzheimer’s Arkansas hosted its 1st Hope for the Future symposium in Springdale. It was so well received by caregivers in need of help and from partnering senior care organizations, that we are committed to hosting this second symposium.”

This event is completely free for family caregivers of all ages, thanks to the founding sponsors Amber and Cory Scott with Chilirhea, the presenting sponsor The Northwest Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, and the Champion Cuisine Sponsor the Schmieding Center. There is a nominal fee for family and professional caregivers for Continuing Education Units. “It’s always a good move when we can be in front of different audiences to educate the community about our program’s services. The floodgates of Alzheimer’s disease is just beginning to surface and we want folks to know exactly how we are here for them,” says Jerry Mitchell, Executive Director of the NWA Area Agency on Aging.

Alzheimer’s Arkansas is a private non-profit organization that provides support and care for the caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Attendee registration forms and vendor application forms are available at www.alzark.org, or by calling 501-224-0021, or email [email protected].
