A pair of lenders are preparing to enter the Springdale market.

Today’s Bank, a $105.1 million-asset bank headquartered in Huntsville, will break ground March 3 on construction of a 4,400-SF branch, its fifth, just east of Jose’s Southwest Grille in the Ozark Center Point Place shopping center. It has current offices in Fayetteville and Huntsville.

Bank president and CEO Larry Olsen said Kevin Beasley has been named president of the Springdale market, alluding to the possibility of additional bank offices in the future.

“Springdale is a great market and that’s why we’re going up there,” Olsen said. “We think this is a good growth opportunity for our first branch. We don’t have anything else specifically targeted as far as other [banks], but it’s not out of the possibility once we get this one up and running.”

Oelke Construction of Springdale is the general contractor. Olsen said the bank is targeting an August opening.

On March 16, federally chartered United Federal Credit Union will open a branch inside the Walmart Supercenter on Elm Springs Road. UFCU is headquartered in St. Joseph, Michigan, and has branches in six other states, including Arkansas.

Currently, its footprint in the state includes two branches in Fort Smith and another in Van Buren.

Tori Weathers will be the branch manager, overseeing five employees.
