National Dental Chain To Open Five New Practices In Arkansas

A national dental chain is expanding in Arkansas with the scheduled opening of two new practices in northeast Arkansas on April 9, and three other locations planned for Rogers, Bryant and Russellville later in the year.

Syracuse, N.Y.-based Aspen Dental announced that new offices will open next week in Searcy and Jonesboro, respectively, where Dr. Darryl Ragland from the University of California at San Francisco, and Dr. Russel Mulamba from the Indiana University School of Dentistry, will be the lead doctors at the new practices.

Aspen Dental spokesman Pat Simon said the five new offices will provide more than $6 million in estimated economic impact to local economies in Arkansas. According to Simon, each new Aspen Dental-branded office, which is normally staffed by about 10 workers, benefits local community growth through investment in office construction, furniture and fixtures, jobs creation, wages and benefits, taxes and investment in marketing and advertising.

“In the places where we are located, what we are seeing across the country is a lack of access to dental care, whether that is in Arkansas, North Dakota, Florida or Louisiana,” Simon told Talk Business & Politics.

As one of the largest and fastest-growing networks of independent dental care providers in the U.S., there are nearly 500 local Aspen practices in 30 states. Each Aspen Dental-branded practice, Simon said, offers a full range of dental and denture services – including comprehensive exams, cleanings, extractions, fillings, periodontal treatment, whitening, oral surgery, crown and bridge work.

In 2014, Aspen Dental-branded practices recorded more than 3.4 million patient visits and saw nearly 750,000 new patients, the company’s press information said.

The first two new Aspen Dental-branded practices are located in White and Craighead counties, where Simon said information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services show that there is a shortage of primary medical and dental care. The practices will be located at the following retail locations:

3680 E Race, Street Searcy, AR 72143
2203 Red Wolf Blvd STE A, Jonesboro, AR 72401
