Samaritan Community Center Buys Former USA Drug in Springdale
The nonprofit organization Samaritan Community Center of Rogers has purchased a vacant commercial property, with plans to relocate its Springdale resale store.
SCC paid $600,000 for the empty USA Drug location at 2300 W. Sunset Ave. in Springdale.
USA Drug & Beauty Market Franchising Systems Inc. led by Jason LaFrance, was the seller.
Renovation of the Sunset property will begin immediately with a goal of being operational by the end of May, according to Mary Mann, SCC’s community relations director.
First Western Bank in Rogers is financing the project.
SCC’s Springdale resale store is currently in Mathias Plaza at 812 N. Thompson St. Mann said the store is almost 12 years old and SCC has needed a new, more visible location for quite some time.
“We have been actively looking for space on Sunset for a couple of years,” she said. “We actually were interested in the USA Drug building when it first came on the market early last year but someone else made an offer and it was taken off the market just as we inquired about it. That deal fell through and the owners contacted us late last fall to see if we might still be interested. Everything came together really fast and just worked out perfectly for us.”
SCC’s Rogers and Springdale resale stores are critical income producers for the organization, Mann said. Out of every $3 spent in the stores, $1 goes directly to fund SCC pantries, cafes and school feeding programs.
