Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage Inc. will open its first Arkansas store March 10 in the Northwest Village Shopping Center at 4116 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville.

Natural Grocers sells a mix of national brand and locally grown products, including USDA Certified Organic produce, as well as other healthy, affordable natural groceries, according to a press release from the company.

“We are excited to become the newest ‘neighbor’ in a community such as Fayetteville, which is very food- and health-oriented,” co-president Kemper Isely said in the press release. “Natural Grocers brings its customers natural and organic meat, produce and dairy from the highest-quality producers. We also offer extensive complimentary, science-based nutrition education programs for making informed health and nutrition choices.”

The Colorado-based, family-owned chain has 93 stores in 15 states, employing more than 2,000 people. The Fayetteville location is one of 18 Natural Grocers stores expected to open in fiscal year 2015, according to the release.

The opening comes a few months ahead of another natural food brand’s entrée into the market. Whole Foods Market is planned to open in September at 3535 N. College Ave. in Fayetteville, just south of the Fulbright flyover.
