Mary Lewis Replaces Charisse Childers At Accelerate Arkansas

Mary Lewis has been hired to replace Dr. Charisse Childers as executive director for Accelerate Arkansas, the group announced Wednesday.
Childers was appointed by Gov. Hutchinson to lead the Arkansas Department of Career Education earlier this month.
Accelerate Arkansas is a statewide volunteer group of 60 business, professional, and education leaders. It emerged from a collaboration in 2003 of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission’s Taskforce for the Creation of Knowledge-Based Jobs and the leadership of the Arkansas Venture Forum.
The organization’s goal is to increase Arkansas’ per capita personal income to the U.S. average by 2020 by working to expand the knowledge-based workforce and job opportunities in the state. Gary Campbell of Fort Smith is the current chairman of Accelerate Arkansas.
