Talk Business & Politics is launching a new year-long survey initiative with its polling partner Hendrix College and new collaborator Little Rock-based Impact Management Group.

The three groups will work jointly on a series of standard polling and new polling methods on a monthly basis beginning in January 2015.

Surveys will include traditional landline and cell phone connections through live and automated calls. Additionally, the groups will provide research through the Internet, social media, intercept surveys, focus groups and big data.

“The world of survey research is evolving and we’re ready to explore new frontiers in 2015,” said Talk Business & Politics Editor-in-Chief Roby Brock. “Hendrix College has been a great partner with us and Dr. Jay Barth will lead some new efforts in this field. Impact Management Group has extensive expertise in the polling arena and shares our interest in looking at evolving efforts in survey research.”

“Our business model is predicated by accurate, detailed public opinion research. Impact Management Group (IMG) is continuously exploring and testing ways to effectively gauge public opinion research,” said Clint Reed, partner with Impact Management Group. “I look forward to this collaborative effort with Hendrix College and Talk Business & Politics. Yes, we will make traditional survey research data available to our audience in order to monitor trends in public policy and politics. However, it will be unique in that we will explore some non-traditional public opinion research methods and make those findings available for public consumption.”

“Since beginning our polling efforts in 2010, we have done a very good job of accurately gauging the opinions of Arkansans on a variety of issues and votes. But, we know that, just as Arkansas politics is changing dramatically, the art of best gauging public opinion is changing,” said Dr. Jay Barth, professor of political science at Hendrix College. “This enterprise will allow us to experiment with new methodologies as we prepare for the 2016 election year in Arkansas. I’m particularly excited that this effort will also allow more Hendrix College students to participate in this process.”
