Forty Under 40: Jonathan Schisler
When Jonathan Schisler was a student at Shiloh Christian School, he took a course in HTML coding, and he was hooked.
The Rogers native went on to earn both a bachelor’s and a master’s in computer engineering from the University of Arkansas, and in late 2008, landed at J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc.
As the software architect for mobile applications, he leads a seven-man team that designs and installs the mobile technology for the logistics giant, a process that is transforming the company’s fleet, its 15,000 drivers, and third-party carriers.
Schisler’s efforts have not gone unnoticed by his employer. This year, he won the IT Top Gun Award for his passion, commitment and work ethic. And in 2011, he and his team won an internal company competition for innovation. His idea, which became the MoveNow app for a subset of third-party carriers, garnered the sponsorship of CEO John Roberts and in 2012 was chosen for implementation.
A problem solver from the beginning, Schisler said his job performance is driven by the sheer scale of J.B Hunt, a publicly held company and one of the largest logistics operations in North America.
“I’m motivated by the responsibility of making sure that we keep up with the technology to provide tools for the employees to do their job,” he said.
Since 1999, Schisler has participated in Blessing Baskets, which distributes food to over 2,000 families in Northwest Arkansas each year for Thanksgiving.
