What would most people be surprised to learn about you? “My first W-2 job was as a cook and chicken cutter for Kentucky Fried Chicken. My family still utilizes me to pick out the keel for them at Monte Ne Chicken.”
What’s the best mistake you’ve ever made? “I had an offer from the same public accounting firm to work in either the Little Rock or Oklahoma City markets. I chose Oklahoma City because it paid $1,500 more per year, but didn’t think at all about how much higher the cost of living in Oklahoma City would be compared to Conway. The short-term economics of the decision were poor, but the people I learned from and the industries I was exposed to were invaluable.”
Where do you see yourself in 20 years, career wise? “Consulting work, or perhaps mentoring rookies from my favorite table at Neal’s Cafe.”
Who are your most influential role models? “My parents.”
What is the best business advice you ever received? “Not making a decision is a decision.”
To what do you attribute your success? “Blessings from God, a very loving and supportive wife and family, awesome and talented co-workers and a lot of hard work.”
