Forty Under 40: Corey Runnells

Corey Runnells enjoys seeing his whole team succeed. That, in addition to providing for his family, is what drives him in his career.

Runnells leads corporate operations at Specialized Real Estate Group. His job entails heading the property management division and its $23 million portfolio, in addition to overseeing all renovation projects.

Recent restorations include an apartment building constructed in 1910 and a commercial property at 200 W. Center St. in downtown Fayetteville. 

Runnells is also involved in the design and construction of new developments, and he leads the rollout.

“I wear a lot of hats,” Runnells said. He has worked at SREG for more than eight years. 

Before that, he had a job in construction, but he was always interested in real estate. He made the career change after meeting Seth Mims, partner and president at SREG.

Originally from Little Rock, Runnells’ colleagues say he is down-to-earth and approachable, key attributes that serve him well in his position.

He “listens twice as much as he speaks,” Mims said. “His personality is like a refreshing breeze on a warm day and his authenticity is obvious to whomever he is working with.”

 Runnells is an active member of his church, a passionate gardener and winemaker and graduate of Leadership Fayetteville.

To up-and-comers in his industry Runnells advises, “Be persistent and know that things are not handed to you.”
