The Fort Smith Convention Center transformed into an outdoorsmen's paradise this weekend (Jan. 16-18), as the Arkansas Tackle, Hunting and Boat Show made its way to town. Featuring some of the industry's latest gadgets and finest equipment, the event offered something for everyone of all ages.

The expo kicked off on Friday (Jan. 16) afternoon, opening to the public at noon. A number of seminars were hosted throughout the day, ranging in sport and topic. The seminars were scheduled to continue throughout the weekend, featuring a number of hunting and fishing experts. Highlights included sessions with The Major League Bowhunter and BuckVentures crew and FLW (Fishing League Worldwide) Pro Zack Birge.

Booths and displays filled the convention center hall, showcasing everything from specialty baits and rod and reels, to gun safes and firearm accessories. Guests enjoyed the chance to browse rows of fishing boats, pontoons, and ATVs. Unique items, including handcrafted wood furniture and sky high duck blinds, were also on display.

Vendors included local companies as well as several from out of state. Texas-based company 3G made the trek to Fort Smith to showcase their custom hunting and stadium blankets.

"This is actually our first time at this show," said owner Debbie Lowery. "3G stands for 'God, Guts, & Game.' We make these blankets and pray over each one for God to keep the one sleeping under it safe. Our Buckskin Sherpa Suede Blanket was featured in "Horseback Magazine," earning the number seven spot on the 'Best Christmas Gift' list."

Numerous guests went home winners thanks to the Firearm Frenzy. Tickets were drawn making some very lucky visitors the proud owners of new guns. Several vendors also held their own giveaways, handing out merchandise and samples. A number of contests were also held, including a "Best Beard" competition and a Kids Casting Contest.

On Sunday, John "Godwin" from the popular A&E series "Duck Dynasty" was on hand for a special meet and greet session. Visitors purchased special tickets to meet the reality show star.

Kids in attendance had plenty to keep them busy, as well. Activities included a bounce-around and a fishing pond stocked with different trout varieties. Many also enjoyed watching the Fetch & Fish Dog Jumping Show. On Friday, children could take part in the red balloon scavenger hunt for the chance to win prizes. The show ended Sunday evening.
