A Night with Bob Margolin

The Fort Smith Riverfront Blues Society, in conjunction with Warren’s Rec Room, will be presenting A Night with Bob Margolin, Friday October 10th at Warren’s Rec Room, 1437 West Newberry Road in Alma. This event will be a fundraiser for the society’s Barry Ratliff Memorial Scholarship Fund which presents two scholarships each year to students in music or music related college programs. 
 
Tickets are $10 in advance and can be purchased online at www.warrensrecroom.com and limited tickets may be available at the door.
 
Gary Hutchison will open the show with Dale Fraze and Steve Dufresne providing the rhythm section. Dale and Steve have toured with Bob Margolin and will also by backing him during the evening’s main performance.
 
The show will include music from Bob’s early career when he was a guitarist for the legendary Muddy Waters as well as songs from his recent releases “Blues Around The World” with the Mike Sponza Band and “Not Alone” with the late Ann Rabson plus stories from his 5 decades in the blues music business.
 
“Steady Rollin” Bob Margolin’s professional career began in 1973 when he was selected by Muddy Waters to replace the recently departed Sammy Lawhorn on guitar. Bob played with the band until 1980 and has gone on to play with a who’s who list of blues greats including James Cotton, Jimmy Rogers, Pinetop Perkins and Kim Wilson.
 
Margolin has won numerous awards throughout his career including the Blues Music Awards Best Guitar Player in 2005 and 2008, BMA for producing the Best Historical Recording in 2004, and has been nominated for BMA’s for Traditional Blues Male Artist, Traditional Blues Album and Blues Band of the Year. His crowning achievement was receiving the 2013 Blues Music Awards prestigious Keeping the Blues Alive award for his 20 years of journalism documenting the blues scene in his column for Blues Revue magazine.
 
Margolin formed the VizzTone Label Group in 2007 which since produced award winning albums from Trampled Under Foot and Debbie Davies among others.
