Percussion Rifles of the Civil War
Do you enjoy learning about the Civil War? One of the things that made that war so deadly and cost over 600,000 Americans their lives was the reliability and lethality of the rifles they used. On May 10th at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Fort Smith National Historic Site will present a program about the realities faced by soldiers in battle during the Civil War and fire percussion muskets including the infantry’s Enfield and the cavalry’s Sharps rifles. Admission is free.
Fort Smith National Historic Site is located in downtown Fort Smith. To access the free parking lot from Garrison Avenue, turn south on 4th Street and west on Garland Avenue. For more information on the park, please call the park at 479-783-3961.
