Sen. Marco Rubio PAC To Aid Tom Cotton Senate Bid

While you’re watching the winter weather, expect to see yet another political ad in the U.S. Senate race on your TV screen.

The Wall Street Journal and other outlets report that the political action committee for 2016 GOP Presidential contender and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio may spend as much as $200,000 on an ad in support of Cong. Tom Cotton’s Senate challenge to Sen. Mark Pryor.

The WSJ reports:

The ad, paid for by Mr. Rubio’s political action committee, will mark the largest expenditure to date in the 2014 cycle by a Senate leadership PAC. The expenditure could match or even top the $200,000 that Mr. Cotton’s own campaign says it has spent so far on its own ads.

Rubio aides, who declined to provide a precise sum for the ad buy, say the purchase will dwarf the $120,000 the PAC spent earlier this year for a TV ad to support Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R., N.H.), who isn’t up for re-election until 2016.

The Cotton ad marks the start of what Rubio aides say will be an aggressive push next year to back a handful of Republican Senate candidates. Unlike many outside conservative groups this cycle, the Rubio PAC plans to stay out of GOP primary fights.

“The guiding principle of this PAC is to find four or five conservative Senate candidates and to aggressively support them in their races,” said Terry Sullivan, who directs the Reclaim America PAC. “Tom Cotton is the first of them.”

The ad, which you can view below, starts its run on Thursday (Dec. 5), according to the report. It will feature Cotton’s military background and touts his effort to control “reckless” government spending and “crony capitalism.”

Cotton has his own TV ad running that features his mother and his military background. Pryor launched a new TV ad this week that espouses his faith and Biblical beliefs.
