The Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies honored Beaver Water District in October with the 2013 Gold Award for Exceptional Utility Performance at the association’s annual conference in St. Petersburg, Fla.

“Beaver Water District is honored to receive such a prestigious award from such a highly respected organization as AMWA,” said Alan D. Fortenberry, CEO of Beaver Water District. “We’ve always felt that our employees’ performance was second to none in the water industry, and this national award is positive affirmation of that fact.”

The award recognizes achievement in implementing the nationally recognized Attributes of Effective Utility Management. The standards account for performance in product quality, customer satisfaction, financial viability, infrastructure and sustainability, among other factors.

The district was lauded for the creation of a stakeholder group, the Beaver Watershed Alliance, the refinancing of bonds and construction of the LEED-certified administration center in Lowell.

AMWA honored four other agencies with the Gold Award — Dayton, Ohio, Mesa, Ariz., Raleigh, N.C., and Virginia Beach, Va.
