Washington Co. in Line for Increase in Liquor Permits

Whispers was recently told as many as 11 new liquor permits will be authorized for Washington County. The increase is based on the county’s population increase recorded in the 2010 Census.

We’re sure plenty of people will apply for those permits. We hear selling liquor is a good way to make a fortune.

But, as in life and in liquor, there are no guarantees. Competition is already stiff and the addition of any new permits would only crowd an already crowded field.

Our source said the same is true in Benton County, where 55 permits have been authorized. Not all of the permit holders there are going to make it, our source said.
