Rogers Part of Three-Pronged Serco Inc. Contract for Health Care
The contract awarded to Reston, Va.-based Serco Inc. to manage health insurance enrollment applications under the Affordable Care Act has a one-year base period and four one-year options.
According to the press release issued by Serco on its website, the contract is worth $1.25 billion if all five years are fulfilled.
News broke on July 10 in Northwest Arkansas that Serco, which has leased a 217,000-SF building on North 13th Street in Rogers, was bringing a document center there. Confusion ensued as to exactly how many jobs were coming to Rogers.
According to the Serco press release, the company is setting up operations in Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky, and is employing a total of 1,500 people.
Numerous job postings are listed on multiple Internet sites for Rogers, Montgomery, Ala., and Corbin, Ky.
“Serco is honored to have been selected to support a crucial implementation component of the Affordable Care Act,” Serco’s chairman and CEO Ed Casey said.
Serco Inc. is a subsidiary of Serco Group, which is headquartered in Great Britain.
