Diamond Hogs No. 3 seed in SEC tournament

The No. 13 Arkansas baseball team has earned the No. 3 seed and a first round bye in next week’s Southeastern Conference Tournament, scheduled for May 21-26 at the Hoover Metropolitan Stadium in Birmingham, Ala.

The Razorbacks are set to begin play in the tournament on Wednesday (May 22) at 9:30 a.m. against either No. 6 seed Ole Miss or No. 11 seed Kentucky. The Rebels and Wildcats will face off in an opening round contest on Tuesday, May 21, at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday’s game will be televised on CSS and will also be available on Cox Sports Television in Northwest Arkansas and nationally on ESPN3.com.

Arkansas is in the SEC Tournament for the 10th consecutive year under head coach Dave Van Horn. The Razorbacks finished the regular season with a 35-19 overall record and an 18-11 mark in SEC play. Arkansas won seven of its 10 conference series for the first time since the 2004 season.

The Razorbacks finished second in the SEC West, 2.5 games ahead of third-place Mississippi State, and finished third overall in the conference, a game ahead of fourth-place South Carolina.

The other three teams on Arkansas’ side of the bracket includes No. 2 seed LSU, No. 7 seed Alabama and No. 10 seed Auburn. Alabama and Auburn will meet in a first round game on Tuesday, 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. LSU will take on the winner of the game between Alabama and Auburn on Wednesday, 30 minutes after the conclusion of Arkansas’ game on Wednesday morning.

The other side of the bracket features No. 1 seed Vanderbilt, No. 4 seed South Carolina, No. 5 seed Mississippi State, No. 8 seed Florida, No. 9 seed Texas A&M and No. 12 seed Missouri.

Fox Sports Net (FSN), Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) and SportSouth will show each game from the first four days of the conference tournament. ESPNEWS will air each of the semifinals on Saturday, May 25, and the championship game will air on ESPN2 on Sunday, May 26, at 2:30 p.m.
