Orthodontist Makes Pain-free Purchase

Perhaps you read in our sister publication about the recent sale of Arkansas Orthodontics.

If not, here’s the skinny: Dr. Bill Pickard sold his five locations in Northwest Arkansas to Dr. Ben Burris of Jonesboro, who has five dental clinics in the northeast part of the state. Burris told Arkansas Business he plans to keep the four orthodontists and roughly 50 other Northwest Arkansas employees in place, as well as maintain the Arkansas Orthodontics name.

AB also reported a purchase price “in the neighborhood of $8 million.”

We couldn’t confirm that price, but a source at CBI-Sunbelt, the firm that brokered the deal, did tell us it was an all-cash transaction and that Liberty Bank of Arkansas was involved. We also understand there were about five interested parties who made visits to Arkansas Orthodontics locations after the bidding field had been narrowed, and that the whole process took less than six months.
