Supreme Court Appoints Professionals from NWA
The Arkansas Supreme Court recently made several appointments involving professionals from Northwest Arkansas.
Three new members have been appointed to the court’s Committee on Professional Conduct, including Niki Cung and Tonya Patrick of Fayetteville.
Cung is a partner at the law firm Kutak Rock, while Patrick is vice president of special assets at First Security Bank. Each began a six-year term Jan. 1.
Also this month, associate justice Courtney Hudson Goodson of Fayetteville, elected to the court in 2010, will begin her role as liaison to the committee. The CPC is responsible for helping the court carry out its duty of regulating the practice of law, and can impose a number of disciplinary sanctions, based on the severity of the case.
The court also appointed Conrad Odom of Fayetteville as one of two new members to its Arkansas State Board of Law Examiners. Odom, whose term will end Sept. 30, 2018, is a partner at Odom Law Firm in Fayetteville, and will represent the Third Congressional District.
Odom takes the place of Kelly Carithers, an attorney with Davis Law Firm in Fayetteville, whose term expired.
The board is composed of 11 members, at least two from each district, who are responsible for setting dates and locations for bar exams, preparing the questions for the exams, grading the exams and certifying the results to the court clerk.
