Wal-Mart to build new supercenter in Springdale

Wal-Mart and Springdale city officials confirmed Tuesday (Dec. 18) plans to build a new supercenter near Interstate 540 and Elm Springs Road bringing an estimated 300 new jobs to the city.

Construction on the new 180,000-square-foot store is set for 2013 with an opening in the fall of 2014.

Mayor Doug Sprouse and Brian Hooper, vice president of Wal-Mart’s real estate division, along with property owner Robin Lundstrum will hold a public announcement at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20 at the proposed site — 4976 Elm Springs Road in Springdale.
                                                             
The announcement will include details on road and infrastructure improvements, and the energy-efficient technology and environmentally friendly features planned to reduce energy and water consumption at the store.
