A community service project of Bentonville Noon Rotary Club and Nunnally Chevrolet, “Wraps for Packs,” is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, (Dec. 14-15) at the Bentonville auto dealership on Moberly Lane.

“Wrap for Packs” specifically raises money for the Samaritan Community Center’s SnackPacks for Kids program, according to event organizer, Gan Nunnally,

Rotarians will wrap up to five gifts in exchange for $10 cash or food donations of that value.

The snack pack initiative is a peanut-free nutritional program, therefore the center asks that food donations be specific items and brands that they know do not contain peanuts, or have been processed in a facility that processes items that contain peanuts.

Acceptable food items include: Hunts Shelf Stable Pudding Cups, Austin Cheese Crackers, Maruchan Raman Noodles, Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Nutri-Grain and Little Debbie Cereal Bars, Rice Krispie Treats, Little Debbie Marshmallow Bars, fruit snacks (most brands are peanut-free) and fruit cups

“Last year, we came up with this idea and pulled it together in a week  and we were able to raise a lot of food and donations for the Samaritan Center. So, we decided to make it an annual event,” said  Nunnally. “It’s a great community service to folks who’ve done their shopping but need help wrapping gifts, and at the same time, raises money to feed hungry children in our area.”

While “Wraps for Packs” is only a two-day event, the food drive for SCC’s snack pack program continues through the end of the month; food donations may be dropped off throughout the month of December at Nunnally Chevrolet in Bentonville.

“Our SnackPacks for Kids is the most expensive program we have,” said Bonnie Faitak, program coordinator. We are so grateful to Bentonville Rotary and Nunnally Chevrolet for their dedication and work on this project. They have gone above and beyond to make sure this event is successful.”

The dealership has also wrapped two vehicles to look like sleighs and made them available to the Samaritan Center to use during the month of December to deliver snacks throughout Benton County, said Nunnally.
