Rick Katzfey, chief meterologist from 2003 to 2006 at NBC affiliate KNWA, returned to the local market recently, albeit briefly.

Katzfey filled in for a handful of newscasts on KHBS/KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29, while the ABC affiliate went through some personnel changes.

Ken Bauer, the creative services director at 40/29, said the station is in between weekend meteorologists until Brittany Bell begins in early May upon her graduation from Mississippi State University.

She’ll replace Ross Ellett, who is now with the Ohio News Network.

Katzfey left KNWA in 2006 when his contract ended, and took a job as vice president of business development at Fairchild Construction Inc. of Bentonville. He currently works as director of development for the nonprofit Teen Challenge Ranch of NW Arkansas.
