ASBTDC’s Massey Named National Biz Counselor Of The Year
Kelly B. Massey of Arkadelphia was recently named the national Small Business Development Center Counselor of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration and will be honored May 21 in Washington, D.C., during National Small Business Week.
Massey serves as center director for the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center’s Henderson State University office. He joined the Arkansas SBTDC in 2008 as a business consultant and was promoted to the center’s director role in 2010.
He assists new ventures and established businesses in the center’s 10-county service area with business planning, financial acquisition assistance, market research, marketing assistance, growth strategies, financial analysis, financial projections and human resource management advice. He also instructs training programs, coordinates student-faculty projects with small business clients and manages the HSU center’s day-to-day operations.
The award recognizes excellence in counseling, training, mentoring and other small business services by an individual in the SBDC program. Criteria for the honor included quality service to small business clients, development of innovative programs and events, increased business opportunities for small businesses as a result of the nominee’s actions and efforts to strengthen the role of small business owners in the community.
Massey earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Henderson State in 1996 followed by a Master of Business Administration in 2009. He is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources Management and a Certified Business Advisor. Massey recently earned export certification through SBA and is currently working toward the Certified Global Business Professional certification.
