FAYETTEVILLE — Pets are half price, but you can count on getting the whole dog this St. Patrick’s Day, Saturday (March 17) at the Fayetteville Animal Shelter.

For the second consecutive year, the shelter is hosting a St. Pat’s half price adoption day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the shelter, 1640 S. Armstrong Ave., south of town. In order to qualify for the special rate, prospective owners must wear something green. Shelter officials target this holiday because this is the time of year that their cages are starting to fill quickly.

We’ve only mentioned dogs, but the deal applies to cats, too. There just aren’t any Irish breeds of cats that we know of.

The Shelter will spay or neuter each pet before they go to their new home, in addition to microchipping and vaccinating each one. The normal cost for cats is $20 and dogs are typically $60, but for St. Patrick’s Day, those fees will be reduced to $10 for cats and $30 for dogs
