SPRINGDALE — EOA Children’s House, the only center in Arkansas that provides long-term, year-round treatment to young abused and neglected children, has received a $84,578 grant from the Walmart Foundation to expanded its pre-kindergarten education, transportation for children and for certain therapy programs.

Children’s House, located in The Pat Walker Center for Children located at 2577 N. Lowell Road in Springdale, serves children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years of age and is said to be the largest, long-term early childhood abuse treatment and prevention center in the United States.

The grant will be used to assist with the cost of a number of upgrades needed since Children’s House extended services into Benton County, doubling enrollment.

Upgrades include a new 24-passenger bus, retrofitted with integrated child safety seats; new physical, occupational and speech therapeutic equipment and new commercial-grade playground equipment.
