Students will meet at UAFS Center for Lifelong Learning and travel to Little Rock, AR.Grab a camera and take a picture of the Old Mill which became most famous for its part in the opening scenes of Gone with the Wind. At Historic Arkansas Museum, enter the film world of Scarlett O’Hara and Rhett Butler via costumes, photos, and movie outtakes. A memorable and certainly most historic moment occurred in another leap year February 29, 1940 when Hattie McDaniel became the first ever African-American to win an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Compare the romanticized vision of the “old south” with the reality of life during the Civil War.
