Tyson Foods Inc. says there are two frauds being perpetrated on the public using the name of the company recruiting workers through Craigslist.com. The warning is present on Tyson Foods’ corporate website.

“Tyson does not conduct employment recruitment through Craigslist.com and has reported activity being conducted under fraudulent Tyson website entities to the FBI. Tyson, like other reputable employers, does not request credit information from job applicants. If you receive a request for personal information in an e-mail from anyone claiming to be a Tyson recruiter, DO NOT REPLY,” the warning states.

Tyson Foods employs more than 115,000 people in 300 operations in the U.S. and around the world.

The second fraudulent scheme involves the scammer sending a check allegedly from Tyson Foods. The accompanying letter asks the recipient to cash the check; then, the scammer later asks for a refund of most of the check. The check is fraudulent and will bounce, and the recipient will lose any funds he or she returns to the scammer.

The company asks the public to forward any e-mails they may receive connected to these scams to [email protected]

Tyson will then alert the appropriate federal authorities. Tyson reminds the public to never provide credit or personal identification such as social security numbers over the phone.

Further the company said “DO NOT cash any checks allegedly from Tyson Foods that you receive unexpectedly. Call Tyson Security for instructions at 1-800-643-3410.”

Tyson said in the statement that it “regrets that it has been targeted by unscrupulous individuals preying on legitimate job seekers and will do everything in its power to bring this fraudulent activity to an end.”
