Sticking to tradition, the Arkansas State Senate chose its new leader for the 2013 regular session.

Sen. Larry Teague (D-Nashville)
was chosen as the next Senate President Pro Tempore for the 89th General Assembly. Teague defeated Sen. Robert Thompson (D-Paragould) in a private vote.

Teague will succeed current Senate President Pro Tempore Paul Bookout (D-Jonesboro).
