The latest venture set out upon by Lindsey & Associates is the Lindsey School of Real Estate.

Company president Jim Lindsey and Tom Skipper, a senior vice-president, formed Lindsey School of Real Estate LLC in February 2010 and began preliminary planning to get the school licensed by the State Board of Private Career Education and approved by the Arkansas Real Estate Commission.

Course offerings began in August and are taught on the first level of the north wing of the 2,500 SF Lindsey building on Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville.

Some remodeling work was required to retrofit part of the building in order to suit the school’s needs.

Skipper said course work is offered in three areas – continuing education, pre-licensure and post-licensure.

Continuing education courses are offered for existing real estate agents. They are required to take 6 hours of course work per year.

Pre-licensure courses are 60 hours, completed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. three days per week over a period of three weeks.

Post-licensure courses are available to agents who have been licensed for less than 12 months. They are required to take 18 hours of course credit their first year as agents.

Enrollment fees are $60 for the continuing education classes, $180 for the post-licensure classes and $395 for pre-licensure classes. Those costs include textbook and all course materials. Skipper, Rigo Gomez and Eva Moser are the instructors.

Skipper said approximately 70 students have registered for two upcoming continuing education classes. Pre-licensure classes have been averaging about 12 students per month; post-licensure classes 5-10 students per month.
