Bella Vista-based Vertical Arkansas Magazine’s third issue is due out in mid-November.

Touted as “a MANual to Southern Living,” Vertical focuses editorial content on men and everything guy-related, including outdoors, sports, hunting, food, style and work-life balance. The magazine publishes every other month.

Publisher Ryan Hughes said the response to the magazine’s first two issues was so positive, the group has decided to double its print run and distribute statewide. Hughes printed 10,000 copies of the first two editions. Look for the magazine in Little Rock, Texarkana, Fort Smith and El Dorado.

The advertiser base has grown – four new auto dealers have placed ads in the upcoming issue – and the third edition will turn a profit, Hughes said.  The second edition, which featured a story on Jimmy Dykes, was 80 pages, plus covers.

Hughes owns six companies, including Vertical Publishing Inc., which he operates under umbrella company, The McRealin Group Inc. He and his wife operated Championship Sports Marketing of Arkadelphia, which they sold to Foxwood Sports of Fayetteville in June of 2009. Foxwood produces high school sports marketing posters, schedules and other materials.

Hughes said a staff of seven produces Vertical.
