In the days coming up I will be a guest correspondent for The City Wire, writing back as a home town news correspondent from the 100 years of Scouting National Jamboree. The Jamboree will be held at Fort A.P. Hill, Va.
The correspondent’s job is to write about each day’s events and send them back home. I will be reporting the week’s events and sending back photos.
The National Scouting Jamboree is an event that celebrates how the Boy Scouts have been in America for the past 100 years and our service to our communities. There will be more than 40,000 registered scouts, scoutmasters and staff camping at the jamboree, and there will be a plethora of visitors each day.
The 100 years of Scouting Jamboree will include countless events & activities in which to participate. Some of the activities include: a 5K fun run; aquatics; a bikathlon; climbing towers; fishing; motocross; pioneering; and trapshooting. Link here for a complete list of activities.
My Jamboree troop consists of 40 boys from the Westark Area Council. We will leave July 21 and return Aug. 4. This once in a lifetime trip will start with white water rafting in Tennessee, then sight-seeing in D.C., then to the Jamboree. I hope you will get to experience the Jamboree with us, through the events that I report each day.
