Local writers recognized at Oklahoma conference
Doug Kelley and Clay McKinney were recognized during the 2010 Oklahoma Writer’s Federation Conference.
Kelley, a corporate pilot for Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp., won a third place award for poetry and honorable mention for a feature article.
McKinney, a banker with Simmons First, received an honorable mention for an adult short story and an honorable mention in nostalgia prose.
This is a tough conference to get any award. I’ve been going to it for five years and just now got an honorable mention,” McKinney noted in a statement.
Kelley and McKinney have also worked as freelance writers for The City Wire.
