Fort Smith Chamber: Bad weather will not postpone legislative gala
Expected icy weather will not postpone the Western Arkansas Legislative Gala to be held in Tuesday night in Little Rock and coordinated by several chambers of commerce in western Arkansas.
Weather forecasts call for icy weather arriving in the area late Monday and continuing through to early Wednesday. Weather reports as of Monday morning show ice accumulation in several counties between the Fort Smith area and Little Rock.
“The show will go on, regardless of the weather and its potential impact on how many folks will be able to make the trip,” said Sandy Sanders, interim president of the Fort Smith Regional Chamber of Commerce.
However, the two buses chartered to ferry people to Little Rock might not make the trip, he said. The buses are expected to leave Fort Smith around 3 p.m., but the bus company will have the final say as to if the trip is safe, Sanders said.
The gala is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at Next Level Events (the old Train Station near the Capitol Building) in Little Rock.
