Fewer Deals, Higher Value
The number of deals made in Northwest Arkansas declined in 2008 (see a pdf of the list by clicking here) but the value increased.
The 2007 list recorded 26 deals with a known value of $2.85 billion
This year”s list recorded 10 deals with a known value of $2.96 billion.
Wal-Mart”s purchase of a 50 percent share in Chilean grocery chain Distribucion y Servicio for $2.6 billion topped the list.
The second largest deal came from Tyson Foods Inc., which sold its Lakeside Farm Industries to XL Foods Inc. for $152 million.
Other deals that made the list included Wal-Mart”s purchase of the Superior Building in Bentonville from Burt Hanna and David Sloan for $29.9 million in September.
